1. Best High-Brightness 4K Golf Simulator Projector: Optoma ZK810TST
The Optoma ZK810TST is designed for premium golf simulator environments where high brightness, detailed 4K UHD images and flexible projector positioning are important.
With a rated output of 8,500 lumens and a 0.65–0.75:1 short-throw ratio, it is particularly suited to larger impact screens and commercial simulator rooms where controlling ambient light may be difficult.
- Why we recommend it: Its high brightness helps maintain image visibility on larger screens, while the short-throw lens allows more flexible positioning than a conventional long-throw projector.
- Key specifications: 4K UHD (3840 × 2160), 8,500 lumens, 0.65–0.75:1 throw ratio and DuraCore laser technology with up to 30,000 hours of rated light-source life.
- Best suited for: Premium commercial golf simulator facilities, larger indoor golf studios and high-end home simulator rooms requiring substantial brightness.
Golf Sim Solutions Expert Advice: Before purchasing, confirm your impact screen’s visible width and available projector mounting distance. Selecting the correct short-throw projector is essential to reducing unwanted golfer shadows while maintaining safe swing clearance, suitable image coverage and adequate ventilation.

2. Best Premium Commercial-Grade: Optoma ZK608TST
The Optoma ZK608TST combines 4K UHD resolution, 6,000 lumens of brightness and a 0.58:1 short-throw lens, making it a strong choice for premium indoor golf simulator installations where projector positioning is critical.
Its short-throw design helps position the projector closer to the impact screen, reducing the likelihood of unwanted golfer shadows while maintaining a large, detailed image. The ideal mounting position still depends on your impact screen dimensions, ceiling height and available swing clearance.
- Why we recommend it: The 0.58:1 short-throw lens produces a large image from a relatively short distance, helping avoid projector positions that could cause unwanted golfer shadows.
- Key specifications: 4K UHD resolution, 6,000 lumens, 0.58:1 fixed throw ratio and DuraCore laser technology with up to 30,000 hours of rated light-source life.
- Best suited for: Premium home golf simulators and commercial bays where mounting distance, image detail and brightness are important.
Golf Sim Solutions Expert Advice: Always calculate projector throw distance using your impact screen’s visible width. The ZK608TST‘s short-throw lens can be particularly useful where room depth is restricted, provided its mounting position maintains safe swing clearance.

- Best suited for: Premium home golf simulators, larger impact screens and high-end commercial simulator bays.

4. Best Premium 5,000-Lumen Golf Simulator Projector: BenQ AK800ST
The BenQ AK800ST is a new-generation 4K UHD laser golf simulator projector, offering 5,000 ANSI lumens, intelligent screen-fitting features and a short-throw lens designed for dedicated indoor golf environments.
Positioned between the AK700ST and flagship AK900ST, the AK800ST delivers increased brightness over the AK700ST while retaining a shorter 0.69–0.83:1 throw ratio than the AK900ST. This makes it an attractive option for premium home golf studios where projector mounting distance is particularly important.
- Why we recommend it: Its combination of 5,000 ANSI lumens, 4K image detail, dedicated Golf picture modes and automated screen-fitting features makes it a strong choice for high-quality indoor golf simulation.
- Key specifications: 4K UHD (3840 × 2160), 5,000 ANSI lumens, 0.69–0.83:1 short-throw ratio, 1.2× optical zoom, laser light source rated for up to 30,000 hours in Eco mode and multiple selectable screen aspect ratios.
- Best suited for: Premium home golf simulator rooms, multi-purpose golf studios and simulator bays where image brightness and relatively short mounting distances are both important.
Golf Sim Solutions Expert Advice: The AK800ST offers an excellent balance between brightness and short-throw performance. Its 0.69–0.83:1 throw ratio can accommodate a large impact-screen image without requiring the longer mounting distance of the AK900ST. Always calculate the correct lens-to-screen distance and confirm safe swing clearance before choosing your projector.

6. Best Compact 4K Golf Simulator Projector: Optoma ZK431ST
The Optoma ZK431ST is an excellent option for compact home golf simulator rooms where achieving a large image from a short projection distance is essential.
Combining 4K UHD resolution, 4,100 lumens and a 0.496:1 short-throw lens, the ZK431ST can produce detailed golf course imagery without requiring the mounting distance of many conventional projectors.
- Why we recommend it: Its 0.496:1 short-throw ratio makes it particularly useful for golf simulator environments where projector positioning is restricted. The 4K UHD resolution delivers detailed course graphics and clearly readable simulator data.
- Key specifications: 4K UHD (3840 × 2160), 4,100 lumens, 0.496:1 fixed throw ratio, DuraCore laser technology and up to 30,000 hours of rated light-source life in Eco mode.
- Best suited for: Home golf simulators, garages, spare rooms and compact commercial bays where available projection distance is a priority.
Golf Sim Solutions Expert Advice: The ZK431ST‘s short-throw lens makes it a strong candidate for smaller golf simulator rooms. However, projector position must still be calculated using the impact screen’s visible width, ceiling height and available swing clearance. A shorter throw ratio does not automatically guarantee a shadow-free installation.
Considering a black projector? The Optoma UHZ36STe is a closely related 4K UHD short-throw alternative with the same 0.496:1 throw ratio, making it worth comparing for darker simulator rooms.

How to Choose the Best Golf Simulator Projectors in the UK

Frequently Asked Questions About the Best Golf Simulator Projectors UK
What is the best 4K projector for a pro-grade Golf Simulator?
For larger professional golf simulator environments, the Optoma ZK810TST is a strong high-brightness choice, delivering 4K UHD resolution and 8,500 lumens. The BenQ AK900ST is another premium option, combining 6,000 ANSI lumens with automated screen-fitting features.
However, the best projector depends on your impact screen dimensions, room depth, ambient lighting and available mounting position. Golf Sim Solutions recommends comparing throw ratios, image brightness and safe swing clearance before selecting the right projector for your golf simulator.
Do I need a 4K projector for my DIY Garage Golf Simulator?
Not necessarily. A 1080p projector can provide an excellent Golf Simulator experience, particularly for budget-conscious home setups. However, a 4K UHD projector can deliver sharper course details, more readable on-screen data and greater image clarity on larger impact screens.
For premium Trackman and GSPro simulator environments, 4K projection is worth considering if your PC, software settings and screen dimensions can take advantage of the higher resolution. Golf Sim Solutions can help you choose a suitable projector based on your room dimensions, equipment and budget.
